Characterization of Polymers-5

Series 5: Anaylsis of mechanical properties

Dynamic Mechanical Analysis and Universal Mechanical Tester are used to study the mechanical properties of polymers.

✴ Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) ;

- Mechanical, physical and viscoelastic behavior properties of polymers are examined.

- While the response of the polymer to the applied mechanical force is studied under different parameters such as temperature, time and frequency, modulus values and loss-damping values are measured.

- Crystallization, melting, glass transition temperature, curing temperature and properties of the polymer can be determined.

 

✴ Mechanical tester,

- The behavior of the polymer against the applied force is examined.

- Tests such as tensile, bending, compression, tearing, and fatigue can be applied by changing the apparatus used in the test device.

- As a result of the tests, the physical properties of the polymer such as % elongation, breaking strength, tear strength, and compression strength are determined.
