Characterization of Polymers-3
Series 3: Morphological analysis
Microscopy techniques are used to analyze the polymer morphology. The most common microscopy techniques used are Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM).
- Microscopy techniques can be used for all polymers.
- Sample preparation is easy, but the used sample may be deformed and not reused.
- It is an effective method in determining the amorphous and crystalline structures in the polymer structure and evaluating their distribution.
- Structure distribution and presence/ size/ distribution of inorganic structures in composite-hybrid polymers can be determined.
